RULES

Equipment:
All players must wear full equipment, including CSA approved helmets. Face protection (masks, visors etc.) is optional but recommended. No player will be permitted to play if they are not properly dressed.

Game Sheet:
All players must sign a game sheet before participating in any league game. All names must be printed and signed. No nicknames may be used.

General Rules:
No redline.
No-touch (automatic) icing
Hurry up face-offs at all times

Game structure:
3:00 minute warm-up. Time starts as soon as the Zamboni door is closed.
Period 1: 20 minutes running time. Last 30 seconds is stopped.
Period 2: 20 minutes running time. Last 30 seconds is stopped.
Period 3: 20 minutes running time. Last minute is stopped.

Season Details:
Season is comprised of one evaluation night, regular season, and round robin playoffs. Top two teams go to the championship game, 3rd and 4th place go to the consolation final.

Spares:
If you find yourself unable to make a game, please be sure to inform your team rep. To make sure that teams are not put at a disadvantage, we ask that you kindly inform us if you will be away so that we can get spare players if necessary. The deadline to inform your captain about being absent is 11:00 am on the Monday preceding your game. Failure to notify will result in a $10 fine.

Any spare will pay a $10 fee to play.

Penalties
:
Penalties are two minutes each, running time.
Standard rules of hockey apply.

 

BLAKBAK PHN Summer 2009 Penalty Policy

If  a player reaches 30 minutes in penalties in the regular season, they will be automatically suspended one (1) game, which is served the following week, whether it is regular season or playoffs. 

Upon return to the regular season, if the player reaches 8 minutes or more, he is suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

Once the playoffs begin, penalty minutes are reset to zero.  If you reach 10 minutes in penalties, you are suspended for one game.  Upon your return, if you accumulate another 6 minutes, you are suspended for the remainder of the season.

Players who were suspended previously in the season, will have the following minutes for penalties applied in the playoffs.  If you reach 8 minutes in penalties you are suspended for the remainder of the season.

These suspensions are automatic.  Furthermore, the Commissioners reserve the right to extend any suspension.  All decisions are final and no appeals are allowed.


EXCEPTIONS

Any stick infraction (high sticking, slashing, and cross-checking) will result in a four minute minor penalty. A second stick infraction in the same game will result in another four minute minor and an immediate game ejection. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however the team will be shorthanded for the time posted on the board.

Any stick infraction (high sticking, slashing, and cross-checking) deemed to be a major penalty will result in a five minute penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following two games. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Any body contact penalty (including charging, kneeing, elbowing and boarding) will result in a four minute minor, served by the offending player. A second body contact penalty in the same game will result in a four minute penalty and an immediate game ejection and the player may be subjected to further disciplinary action.

Any body contact penalties (including charging, kneeing, elbowing and boarding) deemed to be a major will result in a five minute penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following game. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Any player who receives a penalty for hitting from behind will receive a five minute major penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following game.

Players who are assessed match penalties (deliberate intent to injure, spearing, butt-ending, head-butting) will receive a five minute major penalty and an immediate game ejection; the offending player will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following four games. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Verbal abuse towards other players, officials or league representatives will not be tolerated. At the referee’s discretion, he reserves the right to issue ten minute misconducts or gross misconducts as he sees fit. Players receiving gross misconduct penalties may be subject to further disciplinary action.

Any player who accumulates 6 minutes in penalties in one game will receive an automatic game ejection. Please keep in mind that stick infractions are 4 minute penalties.

Any attempt to engage another player in a fight, whether it is verbal or physical, will result in a gross misconduct and an immediate game ejection; the player will be subject to further disciplinary action.

Any player who engages in fighting activity will receive a five minute major penalty and an automatic game ejection. The offending player(s) will automatically be suspended for AT LEAST the following four games and may be suspended PERMANENTLY from the Pro Hockey Network. The penalty WILL NOT have to be served by another player; however five minutes will be posted on the board.

Players who are removed from the league for serious misconduct WILL NOT be eligible for a refund.

ANY RULING BY THE COMMISSIONERS IS FINAL

Playoff Format:

Round robin games will have 2 pts awarded for a win and 1 point awarded for a tie. In the Championship games, if regulation ends in a tie game, a shoot-out will determine the winner.

Tie-breakers for the playoffs will be done as follows and in this order:

            1. Points
            2. Wins
            3. GF-GA (goal differential)
            4. GA
            5. Least penalty minutes 
            6. If all else fails, we toss a toonie! 

Timeouts:
There are no timeouts in regular season play.
One thirty second timeout per team per game will be permitted during the playoffs.
