Irish Gearheads celebrate after cleaning the ice with the CIP Flames 9-0
Terminators emerge on top; Foremen start the rebuilding process; Gearheads douse the Flames!
What a week in the PHN folks! Just when you thought the Flames were going to run away with it, they get destroyed!!!! You thought the Gearheads were going to be the only team to never win? What about them winning 7-0 and recording the first shutout of the season in the PHN! Are you dreaming? I wish I was, this reporter, while unbiased, I promise, plays for the Flames! What was the reason for this stunning upset and loss? Well, I went straight to the source, and to the post-game Flames party in the VIP room behind the red rink. "Hey, look. You know this area is off limits to anyone but players and management, so what I say here, you have to make sure no one knows it is me, Owen speaking. OK look, I hate to say it, but clearly it was our goaltending. We were playing for the 0-0 tie and Prunier decides to let in 7 goals. He stops those shots, we get a point out of this." Well folks, you can't argue with that logic now can you? The Gearheads on the other hand played their best game of the season, lead by the BlakBak PHN first star of the game, Brent McLeod. A hat trick and two assists saw him lead his team to victory, with Gus Kastanis scoring once and adding three assists. Cody Horner got the game winner halfway through the first period, and was clearly excited about the turnaround the Gearheads are now facing, "Yep, we rock, that was Gearhead hockey at its best. We hit hard, shoot hard, and drink hard."
Also taking advantage of a weird night, the CIP Foremen beat the Purple Cobras 9-3. The Purple Cobras, who have an all-star team who can't play together, had two goals by superstar defenceman, Joe "Bulldog" Cali. For the Foremen, emerging scoring threat, Ted Calabretta had four goals, a career best. This was his second BlakBak PHN first star of the game, and was richly deserved. Dan Kuzmarov, looking like his former self before his injury, had his best game of the season, scoring twice and adding three assists. The Foremen did have a low point in the game, when Matt Bouchard had to be carried off the ice with an injury. An MRI is scheduled for tomorrow when the swelling goes down. Jeff Lynch, who missed several opportunities on open nets, had the following comment after the game, "I *$#@ quit the Steve Myska Breakaway Institute and the specialist course on missing open nets. You think I missed the drop date to get my tuition refunded?" This reporter isn't sure Lynch, but I can say, it might be well worth taking the loss!
Taking sole possession of first place is the Conec Terminators. Backstopped by Rob Santanagelo, the inaugural winner of the Rob Santangelo award, they pulled out a 5-4 victory. Mike Di Iorio, freshly shaven and back to his former self, scored two goals and added an assist. Anthony Tse had two goals and was the BlakBak PHN first star of the game. Unfortunately, on a breakaway, Tse scored and then proceeded to launch himself into the end board during his celebration, which ended his icetime for the night. He is scheduled for an MRI and X-rays today.

Major Announcement From the Steve Myska Breakaway Institute!

It was announced today that Jeff Lynch has been kicked out of the SMBI!!!!!
Jeff Lynch has been removed from the SMBI effective immediately for behavioural misconduct. "Mr. Lynch's comments following Monday night's game were totally uncalled for and the SMBI doesn't stand for that kind of attitude." was the comment from Steve Myska, founder, owner, and operator of the Steve Myska Breakaway Institute. "Mr. Lynch, having shown impressive advancment at the Institute, has become vacant and unruly lately and we do not want to be associated with anyone who possesses those character traits." Mr. Myska is referring to the barrage of negative comments stemming from a frustrating game on Monday night where Jeff Lynch was unable to score on numerous open net situations and was yelling uncontrollably on the bench.
"Look, I think Jeff is a great guy, and a great hockey player, but for right now I think he needs to stop hanging around with the VP of Corruption, Morgan Matthews. I think Mr. Matthews lifestyle is hurting Jeff and I hate to see good people go down the wrong road."
In a continuation of this story Mr. Myska did say that Jeff Lynch would be allowed back into the Institute once he cleans up his act......and buys him a steak!
